Good Practices”, developed every year by the Responsible Business Forum (FOB). Among the seven appreciated activities of the company, the following were indicated: the SEGRO Academy programme, aid for Ukraine and participation in the Operation Czysta Rzeka project. SEGRO's environmental activities in the area of electromobility development were also positively evaluated.

As every year, the Responsible Business Forum Association appreciated the good practices of companies in Poland in the field of sustainable development. The list "Responsible business in Poland 2022. Good practices" includes as many as seven SEGRO projects. Importantly, all projects are an integral part of the company's ambition to be the best company on the real estate market and have been implemented as part of the Responsible SEGRO program and its three priorities: investing in local communities and the natural environment, striving to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and developing talent.

As part of investing in local communities and the natural environment, the company has recently promoted i.a. drinking tap water among school students. For this purpose, in cooperation with the City of Łódź Office, in 2021-2022, the developer installed modern touchless drinking water fountains in a total of 27 educational institutions. It is worth noting that this year SEGRO is also developing this project in Gliwice, where it has already installed 11 springs and is planning further implementations in Łódź and another location. The second educational activity implemented by SEGRO, appreciated in the report, is the SEGRO Academy , the first project of this type implemented by a company from the warehouse industry, the first edition of which took place in 2021 and the second in 2022. It aims to support the education of high school students by popularizing learning English, while introducing the warehouse and production industry. In the first edition of the project in 2021, 260 third-grade students from seven high schools in Łódź, Poznań and their vicinity took part, and in 2022, as many as 750 students from five cities and their vicinity participated in the first stage of the second edition of the program: Warsaw , Poznań, Gliwice/Tychów, Łódź and Wrocław.

In the report, FOB also appreciated the help for Ukraine . Due to the conflict in Ukraine, SEGRO launched additional funds to support the Ocalenie Foundation and UNHCR. Each employee of the Polish team also received additional days to volunteer at a selected charity organization helping Ukraine in the crisis. Moreover, from spring 2022, as part of the Responsible SEGRO programme, year-round cooperation with the Ocalenie Foundation in Łódź began, in order to equalize the chances of refugees on the Polish labor market. Language courses, vocational training and workshops were organised, as well as psychological advice.

Another project supported by the company and awarded, Operation Czysta Rzeka , is one of the largest social campaigns to clean Polish rivers and their surroundings. SEGRO is one of its main partners, and employees are involved in it every year as volunteers. The developer was also one of the first on the Polish market to arrange space around the buildings in warehouse parks, where hives and hotels for insects appeared. This project aims to protect the biodiversity and ecosystems accompanying the parks. Currently, they are in Pruszków, Gądki and Gliwice.

Taking care to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, SEGRO uses only green energy in its parks in Poland. The energy purchased by the company has a certificate of origin - it is obtained in 100% from renewable sources, specifically from wind and sun. In addition, the company invests in charging stations for electric and hybrid cars in the parks.

- We are proud of the distinction of being included in the "Responsible Business in Poland 2022" list - says Magdalena Szulc, SEGRO Managing Director, Central Europe. – We believe that by making responsible choices in business, we can have an impact both globally, on the climate and the development of a conscious economy, and locally, on our immediate surroundings. I would like to thank our employees for their commitment to social and environmental goals that we managed to achieve together last year, and our partners for organizing programs and supporting them. Together, we have a chance to be part of a bigger change.

The report “Responsible business in Poland. Good practices” has been published since 2002 as the most important, cyclical publication of the Responsible Business Forum Association. More information about the last edition can be found at https://odpowiedzialnybiznes.pl/publikacje/raport-2022/ .
